Course Description:      

A) Multiple state and multiple decrement models, Problems of emerging costs. Valuing streams of payments using single or multiple decrements or multiple state models Stationary population theory, Manchester unity sickness functions. Pension scheme design, Commutation functions, Profit testing of conventional life insurance.

B) Investors and Investments, Gilt-edged securities, Yield curves, Index linked Gilts. Equity valuation, Equity analysis, Property investment, overseas investment markets, Direct and Indirect investments. Principles of Asset Allocation, Mathematical Techniques in Bond Analysis, Advanced Equity Analysis, Property valuation, Foreign Currency Analysis Construction of Indies, Modern Portfolio Theory.

Course Review:

In this course the main purpose is to give students a taste of multiple state and multiple decrement models and valuing streams of payments by using these models.  It also gives a better understanding about the investment side of the life insurance company making them understand the Gilt-edged securities, Yield curves, index linked Gilts, equity valuation and analysis, property investment, overseas investment markets, direct and indirect investment, asset allocation, bond analysis, advance equity  study, property valuation, foreign  exchange analysis, construction of indices, modern portfolio theory.
